Peter Saville

Peter Saville, the artist behind nearly every top British band from the late 70’s to the present day, began alongside Tony Wilson doing flyers and graphics for Tony’s label, Factory Records.

Saville also did artwork for the likes Joy Division, New Order, Happy Mondays, Suede, and Pulp and turned down work for the likes of George Michael and Peter Gabriel. New Order’s single for Blue Monday, the highest selling 12″ single in the history of music, is still one of the most sought after pieces of album artwork. To end, one of my favorite album covers of all time is once again for New Order. It is the cover for Power, Corruption, and Lies.

Do you know if Saville started out with Joy Division? I think his career has been very lucrative now. Big New Order fan, mostly their earlier work, up until about 1988’s Brotherhood album, that was when they changed and were getting pretty old. I’m a bored twenty something like yourself– went to a boring college, dropped out for 1.5 years, came back to finish and now im going to school and bored when I’m not in class or working. Writing my blog about Chicago and everything else– i try to not get personal– bloggers don’t seem to realize that no one cares, or do they?
