Captured is a documentary about The Lower East Side of Brooklyn in the 80’s. Clayton Patterson, a well-known man with the camera capturing everything from the heroin, art, riots, blossoming hardcore scene, police brutality, and every other vice known to man, compiled footage from the era and has finally made a documentary. Take a look at the trailer; it’s very promising. I personally cannot wait to see it.
The photo link is not working.
was CBGB around there-?- all the fun neighborhoods become nice because the richer people want to live on the wild side.
Probably like Wicker park in Chicago in the 80s but on a much much larger and grander scale.
Chicago’s scene is pretty sterile nowadays as I think most cities are.
damn i wished i lived through those fun times, i would have been filming the guy with the needle in his arm, not dumb enough to do it myself though
but you know like Hunter Thompson said…9/11 was when the fun stopped…probably sucks to live there now… he was absolutely right…I’d almost considering leaving this country if the rest of the world was not becoming a police state also…as for 9/11 there is no incentive for me to even visit NYC anymore let alone want to live there.
And its the police state mentality that would bother me more than any act of terrorism.
And Chicago has nothing in terms of rowdiness to the scale of NYC. I lived in the hippest of hip in Chicago lately and it was dead, except for some dorky hipsters that didn’t even drink, let alone shoot heroin.
Probably not even comparable to the shit in that film. I can’t wait to see it. Like friggin GTA
Last I visited NYC was in the 90’s and some parts I visited, I wouldn’t stick around long enough to find out how rough it is.
Last I visited Chicago…I felt no real danger just walking around, of course…it wasn’t in the shadiest neighborhoods of the city but still. Only time I felt threatened was around 4am outside of a super market on the outskirts of downtown and being approached by a man and 3 kids with obvious weapons in their waist bands trying to sell to us.
people get popped in chicago a lot even though its a 3rd of the size of nyc, the crime rate this year is ridiculous as well as the murder rate. A friend of my friend got shot while hailing a cab on Sunday–he was killed–no one in custody. I’m done with larger cities.
the lower eastside looked like a zoo, a fun zoo though. chicago is like quiet and dead. like i was saying the fun is over
