Like Catcher In The Rye With Stanley Knives

Awaydays is the much anticipated film adaptated from Kevin Sampson’s book, The Liverpool Boys Are Back In Town, soon to be released. The book and film follow a group of British youth engulfed in the turbulent 80’s football hooligan scene. I’ve been waiting for this film for some time now and absoultely cannot wait, it looks to be a bit better production that the classic 80’s hoolie film, The Firm, featuring Gary Oldman.

The stills and short clips full of wedge hair cuts, Forest Hills Adidas, Peter Storm cagoules, Fred Perry’s, and Lois cords give it an authentic touch. I have a feeling it will do the look and feel of the time well, compared to more recent films such as I.D., Green Street Hooligans (horrid by the way), Football Factory, and Rise Of The Footsoldier.
