Alain Delon

The first time I saw Alain Delon on film was when I rented Le Cercle Rouge a couple of years ago. Automatically I fell in love with Jean-Pierre Melville’s style that contained long drawn out muted scenes surrounded by mystery, theme based cinematography, American made cars, beautiful women, and impeccable sense of fashion. However, what set Jean-Pierre Melville’s films like Le Samourai and Le Cercle Rouge was the presence of Alain Delon. I can’t think of many more actors that made cigarettes, mustaches, and trench coats look so cool.
