Billy Reid Named CFDA/GQ Best New Menswear Designer

The third annual CFDA/GQ Best New Menswear award went to Billy Reid this year. Last night, thanks to a lot of strings pulled I was able to attend the presentation of the designers ranging from Billy Reid, Unis, Richard Chai, Burkman Bros, and more. It was a short and sweet meeting among colleagues, friends, and some of the biggest names in menswear. I realize some readers know I spend my days working for Billy Reid, and some do not. It’s an exciting time for myself, my company, and all of the menswear market we seem to find ourselves pining over. I can’t help but be overly excited and blessed to be a part of it all.

Check out the full coverage at GQ, and make sure to catch the video that was shot around the Holidays with Billy going over some of the Spring collection.

On a side note, soon expect a full behind the scenes look at the Billy Reid F/W 2010 show in a video series that spans the massive project all the way from Muscle Shoals to New York City.

The thing I really like about this-it is a story about following your dream and never giving up. No matter how hard the road is. I love the fact that after 9/11 your boss was dealt a setback and slowly built back up to what he is today. It is a fun time in menswear. This comes from a 20 year veteran. Congratulations.

True story indeed, nearly 10 years after winning CFDA and losing everything..he’s back at it stronger than ever.

Thanks so much for the kind words.
